Jim Rogers: Much bigger problems around the globe than the drought in the US

The international investor and commodities guru Jim Rogers warned that there are larger problems in the global agriculture than the drought in the United States. The problems in the US are very serious since the Midwest is facing a crisis following the lack of rains that is causing soybean and corn crops to wilt.

Although that the current temperatures in some regions of the United States are exceeding the records from the Dust Bowl era, Rogers believes that these problems are nothing compared to the larger problems in the global agriculture as a whole. This is the first time since 1956 when the drought is spanning is such large areas.

The author of the book "A Gift to My Children" Rogers explained his opinion that the drought is very big deal if it is not raining on your piece of land. But for the other farmers around the world it is a good thing. He added, that you can not have perfect weather conditions everywhere and every year.

According to Rogers, compared to the other agricultural problems, the drought is something you can live with. In his opinion, among top global in that field are that now the highest rate of suicide in the UK is among farmers.

Among other worrying topics are the average age of farmers in Japan and U.S. In Japan it is 66 and in America is 58. There was a wave of suicides in India in recent years, when hundreds of thousands of farmers have taken their lives. It is very worrying, according to Rogers, that more young people study public relations than agriculture and these longer-term problems that are much bigger.

"The world faces shortages of everything and we are facing a shortage of farmers so any problems will turn into even bigger. Any weather problems will have big effects because of the dire situation in farming. Agriculture will be one of the best sectors of the world economy for years as I have told you often.
